Uniform Circular Motion

Assalamualaikum everyone, today we will learn about uniform circular motion.

What is uniform circular motion?

- Uniform circular motion is a motion in circular path with constant speed but continuously changing    direction.

Centripetal Aceleration

- Centripetal acceleration defined as the acceleration of an object moving in a circular path whose direction is towards the centre of the circular path and whose magnitude is equal to the square of the speed divided by the radius.

We find the magnitude of this acceleration by comparing ratios of velocity and position around the circle. Since the particle is traveling in a circular path, the ratio of the change in velocity to velocity will be the same as the ratio of the change in position to position. Thus:
 =  =

Rearranging the equation,
 =

Thus
a =

Centripetal Force

- Centripetal force is defined as a force acting on a body causing it to move in a circular path of magnitude.

- Centripetal force is the force that causes centripetal acceleration. By using Newton's Second Law in conjunction with the equation for centripetal acceleration, we can easily generate an expression for centripetal force.

To find the centripetal force, we can use this formula :

F c = ma =

That's all. Thank you :)
